New Capabilities Extend Pacific Cheese’s Process Cheese Offering, Increase Production Efficiency and Streamline Customer Delivery
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hayward, CA – August 9, 2010: Pacific Cheese Company Inc. today announced it has acquired the assets of Chateaux Cheese Corporation of Vernon, California, a privately held manufacturer of pasteurized process cheeses, whose operation will be integrated into Pacific Cheese. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The combination of Pacific Cheese, the leading supplier of premium-quality natural cheese, and Chateaux, specializing in Pasteurized Process American Cheese, creates one of the country’s largest broad line cheese suppliers. The move also accelerates Pacific Cheese’s strategic initiative to offer customers one-stop shopping with a world of cheese options.
“Our goal is to provide every customer with a specialized combination of products and services that best supports their unique needs,” said Stephen Gaddis, president of Pacific Cheese. “Processed cheese is a key ingredient for many restaurant chains, and we want to meet that need with the finest quality product.”
Pacific Cheese’s product offering will be expanded to include award-winning pasteurized process cheese made from natural cheese, including:
- Blocks, loaves, chunks, shreds and slices
- Controlled Melts
- No Melt
- High Melt
- Restricted Melt
- Restricted Spread
- Easy Melt
- Sauces
- Imitation cheese
Pacific Cheese will integrate Chateaux’s operation into its Reno facility, currently planned to be completed by the end of this year. In addition, Pacific Cheese will be moving its own processed cheese line to Reno from its Hayward facility.
Chateaux’s President Peter Ernster, Jr. has joined Pacific Cheese as Vice President of the Processed Products Division.
This transaction represents the second expansion of Pacific Cheese during calendar year 2010. Earlier in the year, Pacific Cheese acquired the assets of Atlantic Cheese, based in North Carolina.
